About the Artist

My name is Jay, and I’m a Wet’suwet’en hobbyist/freelance artist living on unceded Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and səl̓ilwətaɬ land in British Columbia, Canada. I am a 2024 Capilano University 2D Anim/Visdev graduate and member of the Likhts’amisyu (Fireweed) Clan.
I have had a passion for artwork and animation ever since I was a child, and have been learning my own nation’s formline art under family guidance since 2021. I enjoy drawing formline designs combined with modern media and franchises such as video game and animation characters, as well as making formline designs utilizing non-traditional or unconventional animals and creatures.
Because of my passion for animation and artwork, I want to maintain a healthy boundary when it comes to using my art for income, and thus I’ve opted to work as a freelance artist instead of as an industry worker. In my free time I enjoy baking, sewing, playing video games such as Splatoon and Dwarf Fortress, and learning ASL.
